In March 1978 Tandy introduced the first version of Level II BASIC for the TRS-80 Model 1. A Level 1 to Level II upgrade was available from Radio Shack dealers. Later Model 1’s were sold with Level II Basic and 16KB standard. The addition of an Expansion Interface allowed for RAM to be increased to 48KB, as well as the addition of a single density floppy disk drive with a capacity of 85KB.
